‘Best of the Best’ at Towcester Food Festival
An award-winning street food vendor will be among the hot food sellers at Towcester Food Festival in June 11 and 12.
Seadog Foods scooped the ‘Best of the Best’ accolade at the British St Food Awards, with Michelin star chef Giorgio Locatelli describing their seafood as “amazing”.
Chefs Jim Coslett and Beth Newsome gave up their day jobs to launch Seadog on a hunch that people were ready to experiment beyond fish and chips.
The pair take the daily catch from north Devon and use recipes inspired by street food around the world to create delicious seafood dishes.
Jim said: “We had both travelled in Asia, Africa and South America and shared a love of world food. We haven’t looked back since launching and winning at the British St Food Awards was the icing on the cake.”
Seadogs will be serving their award-winning Laksa, a rice noodle soup made with mackerel, Devon crab, Cornish seaweed, crispy shallots and a spicy coconut broth. They will also be cooking a Japanese-inspired fish burger, with wasabi mayo, pickled vegetables and a home-made, sweet soy BBQ sauce.
Towcester Food Festival is a celebration of artisan food and drink with more than 100 food and drink stalls, free wine and gin tasting sessions, cookery classes for kids, free chef demonstrations, live music, a family circus and a world street food market.
It takes place at Towcester Racecourse on Saturday June 11 and Sunday June 12 and is open from 10am to 6pm on Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sunday. Adult tickets are £6 in advance, or £8 on the day. Family tickets are £15 in advance. Tickets are on sale at: www.towcesterfoodfestival.co.
Towcester Food Festival is supported by South Northamptonshire Council as part of the council’s drive to support tourism and the local economy.
